Charity auction for Banská Štiavnica

This year, a devastating fire swept through the historic centre of Banská Štiavnica and the flames severely damaged a number of buildings whose value is incalculable. We at the Czech Mint are not indifferent to the fate of the Central Slovakian town, which is a jewel on the UNESCO list, and so we prepared an extraordinary product with the sole purpose of helping.

The special edition of the gold coin with the motif of Banská Štiavnica differed from the regular issue by a commemorative postmark and hand numbering on the back of the packaging in the form of a historical postcard. Everyone who purchased it provided funds for the reconstruction of the town and in return received a unique collector’s item.

The issue limit of the numbered edition was only 200 pieces and was quickly sold out. The very last copy numbered 200/200 was kept for a charity auction.
