Product description

Platinum is not a traditional minting material and medals made of it are therefore the more precious. Czech Mint has now issued another exceptional item, a platinum medal with the motif of The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the dominant of Brno which has towered over the town since the 12th century. Over the centuries it was rebuilt several times and enlarged. Thanks to its almost magical placement on a hill which offers splendid views of Brno the cathedral is a popular tourist destination –– as well as a favoured oasis for local inhabitants.
Czech Mint’s platinum medal is not the first numismatic work depicting this popular motif. It is however distinguished by the distinctive design of both sides created by renowned representative of the traditional medallist school Jaroslav Bejvl. The obverse side captures the majestic splendour and magnitude of the building, while the reverse shows an original view of the interior of the main nave of the cathedral. This fabulous work of art is a collector rarity and it also has another extra value– it is an collection promising a very interesting appreciation!
