Czech Lion 2020

The bullion coins are made of precious metals and serve primarily as a means of investment and preserving value. Such are the “Czech Lions”, which means the Czech Mint's own investment coins that are issued with a foreign license. They are the first coins of their kind minted in the Czech Republic and the series does not miss a popular variant minted from one ounce of pure silver.

Silver is an underrated means of investment and a number of
conservative investors who prefer it over gold are increasing. Silver also offers the unique advantages of industrial metal in addition to the medium to long-term investment potential. Collectible, artistic or historical value is not primarily reflected in the favorable price of silver investment coins (unlike commemorative coins). The “premium”, which means the difference between the price on exchange and the selling price, corresponds to this fact. Nevertheless, the Czech lions also excel in their elaborated patriotic aesthetics.

The Czech Mint
reworked all variants of the investment coins in 2020, but maintained the idea. Besides the Czech lion in an untraditionally realistic presentation, the reverse side of the silver coin presents two more symbols of Czech statehood - the St. Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of a two-tailed beast, together with an eagle on shield that is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian birds of prey. The medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS became the author of the relief. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. These atrributes are the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented by linden branches.

One ounce of silver is one of the world's most popular means of investment. The total schedule of issuance counts 24,000 coins - of which
7950 are placed in a protective capsule intended for the Czech market. Another 15000 pieces placed in a protective capsule are intended for foreign countries, 1000 pieces are placed in a numbered packaging and 50 pieces are included in sets of silver coins.
