Coin commemorating 250 years from the birth of Aloys Klar

Silver coin marking the 250th anniversary of birth of Aloys Klar is the second in a series of five 200-crown coins issued by the Czech National Bank (CNB) in 2013. The coin was designed by creative artist Branislav Ronai who won a country-wide anonymous design competition organized by CNB.
Aloys Klar was a German philosopher, teacher, and philanthropist, professor at the Charles University in Prague, dean of the Philosophic Faculty, founder and first director of Klar’s Institute for the Blind.
The obverse side of the coin features an older version of a typewriter for the blind based on the Braille’s writing system. It is complemented with the coin’s denomination “200 Kč“ and the name of the country “Česká republika“. The reverse side is dominated by Klar’s portrait on the background of the front side of the Klar’s Institute, there is also his signature, years of birth and death and his name.
Each coin is delivered with a catalogue card containing description of the coin and its three-dimensional depiction.
