Product description
Silver coin from a new series dedicated to mythical creatures featuring the phoenix.
We know the word phoenix from Greek - it literally means "bird of red-nautical colour". However, mythical feathered creatures endowed with supernatural powers are found in the mythologies of several nations. It is the Bennu in Egypt , the Garuda and Bherunda in India, the Simorgh in Persia, the Paskunji in Georgia, the Anqa in Arabia, the Konrul in Turkey, the Me Byi Karmo in Tibet, the Fenghuang in China and Zhu Que,the Hō-ō in Japan , and we know the Firebird in Slavic countries. Each of them represents different values - while Fenghuang expresses the harmony of the feminine and masculine principles, Anqa was so predatory that God had to destroy him... But one thing these birds have in common is that they are a symbol of the eternal cycle of rebirth. This cycle takes the following form: once every five centuries the old Phoenix bursts into flames and perishes in order to rise from the ashes in full strength.
The Italian medal maker Arianna Cicconi dedicated the reverse side of the coin to the fierce-looking Phoenix. The colourful flames that burn his body contrast sharply with the black finish of the coinage. In a similar vein, the obverse side presents an erupting volcano. The obverse side also includes the attributes of the coin's issuer - the national emblem of the Republic of Palau and the nominal value of $10 (USD). All this is processed in deep relief.
The Power Coin will mint only 499 pieces.
