Product description

The silver coins of the Czech National Bank with a nominal value of 500 CZK were dedicated to the key events associated with the establishment of a common state of Czechs and Slovaks in the 2016-2020 emission period. The mintage in the top quality proof commemorates the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the Washington Declaration.

"Our people called the Habsburgs to the Czech throne from their free will, and by the same law they set them off. We declare this Habsburg dynasty inappropriate to lead our nation, and we deny it all the rights to rule the Czechoslovak land, which, as we now claim, will be free and independent nation from now."

This is the excerpt from the "Declaration of the Independence of the Czechoslovak Nation by its Provisional Government," which entered the history as the "Washington Declaration". Representatives of our foreign resistance in this document summed up the reasons for dissatisfaction, the rights and demands of Czechs and Slovaks, and in the US capital handed it over to President Wilson, who was head of negotiations with the collapse of Austria-Hungary in the last year of the First World War. The publication of the declaration on 18 October 1918 did not remain unanswered to the representatives of the monarchy . Foreign Minister Gyula Andrassy sent a note to the US president in which he expressed his country's willingness to adhere to the peace conditions and recognized the rights of Czechs and Slovaks. Within a few days, both Slavic nations recognized freedom.

Commemorative coins from the studio of MgA Jakub Orava presents a small national emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic and the inscription "HELLO, HELLO, HELLO OUR INDEPENDENCE - CZECHOSLOVAKS!" The reverse side is dedicated to the Washington Capitol Building, a document with part of the Washington Declaration, the founders of the Republic of T.G.Masaryk, M.R. Stefanik and E. Benes and the Czechoslovak flag, in which the winning letter V is placed.
