The third silver coin of the Czech Mint from the series Cat Breeds is dedicated to the Siamese cat.

The name of the breed, which occured in the 14th century, suggests that it originated in the area of Thailand, where it adorned the courts of the rulers. Even after the Siamese cat spread around the world in the 19th century, it was the pet of the rich. The oriental beauty has an elegant body - slender but firm and muscular - long legs and a wedge-shaped head dominated by large ears and slanted blue eyes. The exotic look is determined by the unmistakable colouring - the short coat is cream with dark markings on the head, paws and tail. Siamese cats are temperamental extroverts. They are very sociable, love people but want to be the centre of attention and require the permanent care. In return, they are able to learn incredible tricks.

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the medal maker David Kružliak, bears two depictions of the Siamese cat. The first one is coloured, giving the colourful coat a prominent appearance. The second, which is embossed, presents the cat playing. The composition is supplemented with the Czech-English inscription  SIAMSKÁ KOČKA – SIAMESE CAT. On the obverse side, which is common to the whole series, you will find a silhouette of a cat and paw prints. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2024.
