Universal Gods

Another silver coin of the Czech Mint from the cycle that commemorates ancient gods from all over the world, pays tribute to Apollon.

Apollon was one of the most important and complicated gods of the
ancient Greeks. He was revered not only by mortals but also by other gods. His father, Zeus, trusted him enough to commission him to communicate the divine will to mankind, which Apollon did by sending oracles and prophecies. At Zeus' request, he also kept order in the world. He punished immoral, rebellious and wicked deeds with his bow and infallible arrows, which spread plague. In marksmanship, he even equaled his sister, Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, who formed an inseparable pair with him. But Apollo could also heal and ward off natural disasters from kind and righteous people. He was the god of light - not only the sun rays, but also the light of knowledge and truth. He protected the herds and pastures that were the source of life, and helped found cities that were centers of reason and art - music, poetry, dance, ...

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the medal maker
Bc. Zuzana Hubené, DiS., presents the dashing Apollon. The god, whose elaborated body is covered only by a strip of cloth, plays the ancient Greek lyre. A pair of intricate ornaments completes the composition. The decorative Greek motifs are also found on the obverse side of the coin, where they are accompanied by ornaments of Norse, Slavic, Celtic and Egyptian origin - the obverse side is common to the entire year of the divine coins. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the licence of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary elements - the nominal value of 10 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the year of issue 2022.

The universal gods are immortalised on the large coins - each weighing
five troy ounces.
