Product description
Unique silver coins with cut Bohemian crystal are the result of a combination of traditional Jablonec crafts, which means medal making of the Czech Mint and the glass industry of the Preciosa company. The motif of the birth of a child has already appeared on the coin from the Crystal Coin series, but the issue was quickly sold out, therefore its reissue has been released.
A baby birthday is celebrated differently around the world. Americans celebrate in advance - the party takes place three weeks before childbirth and it is accompanied by useful gifts. In Germany, on the contrary, they believe that giving presents or celebrating before the baby is born brings bad luck. Russians, like the Americans, enjoy practical things, therefore the congratulators often give the complete layette. Mexicans bring cigars into the families where the baby boy was born, otherwise they give chocolate. They also enjoy special sweet gifts in the Netherlands, Belgium or Iran. And what about the Czechs? They use to give a precious metal coin into the cradle. But most mothers, regardless of nationality, certainly agree that organizing celebrations is the last thing they think about before and after returning from maternity hospital. On the contrary, fathers must not miss drinking in almost any culture…
The reverse side of the commemorative coin presents a combination of embossed relief, cut Bohemian crystal, together with traditional symbolism. The feet of a newborn baby are tiny, fragile, and cute - they grow up quickly and commemorate how tiny the baby was when the parents brought her or him home.
The coin was made by the expert medal maker Irena Hradecká, DiS. The feet are supplemented by other children's motifs together with an bilingual inscription NEWBORN BABY – K NAROZENÍ DÍTĚTE. Since the coins are issued with the license of the island of Niue, their obverse side bears its essential attributes - the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD), the year of the issue 2019, the name of Elizabeth II. and the portrait of a Queen surrounded by a number of other footprints.
The schedule of issuance counts 1,000 pieces and presents an original yet traditional gift.
