Product description
Hradec Králové is an ancient town located in the northeast Bohemia and the center of a large area on both sides of the Elbe. As such, in 1990 rightly earned the status of a statutory city and in 2016 also earned a silver medal from the Czech Mint. It is a part of a cycle of mintages dedicated to the Czech statutory cities and is stamped from one kilogram of pure silver.
Hradec Králové in the course of our history, claimed to have a number of parties - during the Hussite wars the town stood alongside Jan Žižka, during the Thirty Years'War was decimated by the Swedes and exactly 150 years ago became a place of decisive clash of the armies of Prussia and Austria. No wonder! Indeed, the confluence of the rivers Elbe and Orlice with its numerous tributaries, between which grows a hill, lying on the important trade route linking the Baltic with southern Europe and has always been attracted to the settlement. Here originated already in the late 9th century the Slavic fortified settlement, in the 10th century it became home of Slavníkovci family and in the 13th century the Premyslids lived here for a change. A moment of the emergence of Hradec Kralové is considered the year 1225, when the local castle became a free royal town.
The reverse side of the issues of the cycle of kilogram investment medals is the same - on the map of the Czech Republic, designed by MgA. Miroslav Schovanec, DiS. are indicated all statutory towns and behind it show their names. The obverse side of the medal then always consists of two elements - the architectural landmarks and an aerial view of the city. The author of a closeup of the spectacular bird's eye view is Jakub Matouš DiS., and the relief depictions of the Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is the work of Irena Hradecká, DiS. Both works of art are skillfully jointed by Jan Peter, Dis.
The kilogram silver medal comes on a run of only 24 pieces and each one is hand numbered on the edge.
