Silver slovak coin 10 EUR 2024 - Janko Jesenský - 150th birth anniversary proof
Product description
Slovak silver euro coin was minted in quality proof on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Janko Jesenský.
Janko Jesenský was a great patriot who fought for the creation and preservation of Czechoslovakia, and an even greater artist. He was popular as a writer, poet and translator - one of the first creators of modern Slovak literature. In poetry, he became known as a poet of lyrical pathos and civil unrest. He moved away from intimate poems in which he transferred his own feelings to political, critical and committed verse that is truly timeless. Among his prose works, readers will be particularly familiar with his Malomestské Tales, a collection of grotesque short stories set in a small-town setting, or his two-volume novel The Democrats, which uses satire and parody to hold up a mirror to the hypocrisy, calculation, and other ills of individuals and of First Republic society as a whole. Thanks to the scope and contemporary relevance of his political-satirical work, Janko Jesenský became the first Slovak to be named a national artist...
The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of academic sculptor Ivan Řehák, presents a portrait of the young writer in period clothing supplemented with the inscription JANKO JESENSKÝ 1874-1945. Another portrait of the writer can be found on the obverse side, which was designed by Mgr. Art. Martin Sabol. The composition of the obverse side is supplemented with Jesensky's autograph and the titles of selected works. Essential attributes of the euro coin are the nominal value of 10 EURO, the inscription the inscription SLOVAKIA, the year of issue 2024 and the Slovak national emblem.
The coin was minted by the Mincovňa Kremnica Mint and issued by the National Bank of Slovakia.
