Czech Lion 2020

The collector´s variant of the investment coin is stored in a special packaging which is numbered. The schedule of issuance counts 500 pieces.

The first
purely investment coins minted in the Czech Republic are called the "Czech Lion". They were minted by the Czech Mint and issued with a foreign license. There are a number of variants for every investor who can easily regulate how much money he or she invests. 1/25 oz gold coin is the smallest of them.

The term „ounce“ needs to be further specified. There are a number of variations, some of which relate to weight and others to volume. The universally unit of weight is the so-called
Troy ounce (abbreviated as “oz”) that is valid in the international trade with precious metals - especially gold, silver and platinum but also gems. Its name was derived from the French shopping center Troyes and used in the Middle Ages. One troy ounce weighs exactly 31.1034768 grams. Its multiples or shares are also commonly used to estimate the value of metals - usually in US dollars per troy ounce.

The Czech Mint reworked all variants of investment coins in 2020, but maintained the idea. Besides the
Czech lion in an untraditionally realistic presentation, the reverse side of the gold coin presents two more symbols of Czech statehood - the St Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of a two-tailed beast, and an eagle on the shield which is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian birds of prey. The medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS became the author of the relief. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. The attributes are the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented with linden branches.

The gold coin placed in
a special packaging represents an addition to the numismatic collection but also an original and valuable gift - for graduation, wedding, birth of a child or just for fun…
