Czech Lion 2020

Each minting world power owns its gold investment coins. These are intended primarily for investors who want to take advantage of precious metals. The Czech Republic does not have its own purely investment mintages, therefore, the Czech Mint issued the “Czech Lion”, which is its own investment coin with a foreign license. The investment series has been crowned by kilogram gold coins.

A heraldic figure in the form of a lion
is the most prominent czech symbol. But how did this exotic beast get into the emblem of a country situated in the heart of Europe? The legend of Bruncvík, the prince, who set out on a journey to Africa, where he helped the animal king to fight against the beast, would help. However, our historians offer a more plausible explanation. Our first historically documented symbol was a flaming eagle, also called Přemyslid or St. Wenceslas. They are not sure when it first appeared, but it was probably used by the mythical Forefather Čech. However, it was replaced by a lion in 1158. Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa appreciated the help of Prince Vladislav II. by giving him a royal crown, along with a new coat of arms - a silver one-tailed lion. The lion represented the virtues of the knight, the strength and courage that Vladislav had shown during the conquest of the city of Milan in the service of the Emperor. And how did the lion get the second tail? Again, heroism of the King Ottokar I of Bohemia and military assistance of the Emperor Otto IV played the main role in the fight against the Saxons. The second tail distinguished the Czech lion from the beasts of other nations and provided it with a unique prestige.

A two-tailed lion provides a gold coin with his majesty. The Czech Mint
reworked all variants of investment coins in 2020, but the idea remained. The unusually realistic Czech symbol guards other attributes of our homeland - the St. Wenceslas crown on its head, and the eagle on the shield, which is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian predators. The reverse side was made by the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. The obverse side of the coin was dedicated to the necessary elements of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to issue its own investment coins. This includes the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 8000 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented by linden branches.

You can invest your funds in
one kilogram of pure gold exempt from VAT in the form of a precisely processed patriotic mintage.
