Gold 5 Ducat SR 2025 - Sissi wife and mother proof
Product description
Empress Sissi - this is the theme of the Czech Mint's fifth Ducat series in 2025, which was created for Slovak collectors and investors. The gold five-ducat features the famous woman in the role of a wife and mother.
Although Sissi and Franz Joseph I fell in love at first sight, their relationship cooled over time. The busy husband, who ruled a vast multi-national empire, had little time for his wife. The dissatisfied Empress, who was oppressed by life at the court, even sanctified his relationship with his mistress. Their love, however, did not completely disappear. When Sissi died by unfortunate circumstances at the hands of an Italian anarchist, the monarch never fully recovered from her death... Tragic was also the fate of their only son - the unfortunate heir to the throne, Crown Prince Rudolf, committed suicide. He was never good enough for his father and his mother was distant with him. He and his sister Gisela grew up in the care of their grandmother, who wanted to have a decisive influence on her grandchildren. Sissi was not overly opposed to this, having lost interest in her offspring after her eldest daughter , Sophie, died when she was just two. She only recovered when her third daughter, Valerie, was born and became her "only child".
The obverse side of the five-ducat, which is the work of medal maker MgA. Petra Čánská, presents Sissi and her beloved daughter Valerie. The Emperor is seated next to them, but the aloofness of the ruling couple is clearly visible. The reverse side then bears the empress's coat of arms, which combines the symbolism of the Habsburg-Lorraine and Wittelsbach families.
The mintage of the gold coin weighing five ducats is only 50 pieces. Its specifications are inspired by the first Republican St. Wenceslas ducats.
