Product description

A number of collector's mintages dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia were published in 2018. High-weight Czech Mint coin, which is minted from five troy ounces of pure gold exempt from VAT, will attract investors in particular.

The origins of our republic are inherently connected with a gold. The national gold treasure which was a symbol of new statehood and economic independence began to emerge when the independent Czechoslovakia was established. But where to take such a gold? There was almost no gold in the Austrian central bank at the end of the First World War, and Czechoslovakia, even it was on the side of the winners, had to participate in war reparations. It is said that when our legionaries returned to their homeland, they brought with them a part of the Russian gold treasure which they guarded during the Bolshevik revolution. However, the period documents prove that the legionaries had to return the money which they took from the Russians. For that reason a national collection became the foundation of the gold treasure of the Republic, not unlike the times of the National Theater. But its meaning was rather psychological. 94,000 coins and medals were collected, but they weighed only 65 kilograms of pure gold. The internal currency loan was much more important for creation of the golden treasure of the Republic. A state with an interest rate of 4% obtained either the gold or the currency for which it could buy it. The Czechoslovak stocks of gold were 20 tonnes in 1922, 41 tonnes in 1925 and unbelievable 97 tonnes in 1938. Czechoslovak gold rolled in all over the world during the Munich dictation. But it is a different story ...

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of an academic sculptor Zbynek Fojtu, is dominated by the so-called "great emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic". The two statuettes in the form of two-tailed lions bear the emblems of Bohemia, Slovakia, Carpathian Ruthenia, Moravia, Silesia, Tesin, Opava and Ratiborsko region. They are complemented by linden branches and ribbon with the national slogan TRUTH WINS. The composition of the reverse side is completed by the inscription THE FOUNDATION OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA with date October,28 2018. The obverse side of the coin was then devoted to the linden branch and necessary elements of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to issue its coins. They are the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2018 and the nominal value of 250 DOLLARS (NZD).

The emission load counts only 100 pieces of five-ounce gold coins.
