Product description

The sixth platinum coin of the Czech Mint from the collector-investment cycle dedicated to UNESCO heritage gives tribute to the Church of St. John of Nepomuk on the Green Mountain, which will be 300 years old.

The main purpose of the construction of the pilgrimage church near Žďár nad Sázavou was to celebrate John of Nepomuk as an important saint and patron, even before his canonization. The impulse arose from the abbot Václav Vejmluva as an immediate reaction to the miraculous discovery of the preserved language in the grave of John of Nepomuk in St. Vitus Cathedral on April 15, 1719 and his idea was implemented by Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. The renowned architect combined the deep knowledge of mathematics with the passion for Christian mysticism and the tabernacle bears his unique handwriting, which we call baroque gothic. He did not follow the usual sacral conventions, but he only respected the assignment of the abbot who wished he worked with the shape of the star. Mystical number five referring to the martyrdom of John of Nepomuk and Jesus Christ passes the chapel which is surrounded by gallery. The building has five-pointed ground plan, five entrances, five altar nichž and ten chapels, ...

The reverse side of the platinum coin, the author of which is traditionally the medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS., is dominated by the view of church from bird´s eye view complemented by the detail of the star placed above its main entrance. The obverse side of the coin, which is common to the whole cycle, bears the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2018 and the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD). These are the necessary attributes of the island of Niue, which is the issuer that provides the Czech Mint with foreign license to issue commemorative coins. Among these elements there is a collage consisted of architectural elements of various Czech buildings listed on the world heritage list.

The unmistakable floor plan of the church can also be found on a wooden collector's box, where you can store the entire platinum series. Each of the 100 coins is accompanied by a special certificate of authenticity.
