Product description

The Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, regularly issues various circulation coin sets. For example, a set featuring a wedding theme, which makes for a unique gift for anyone planning a wedding in 2026.

Coins are not merely a medium of exchange. Since ancient times, they have also held a much deeper symbolic meaning. They are, in fact, bearers of abundance, happiness, and security. This is precisely why they have become an integral part of many rituals across cultures and centuries. In ancient times, when the Czech lands were inhabited by the Celts, staters were used for payment. These gold coins, nicknamed “iris coins,” also served as talismans, which we still find today in ancient graves and shrines. They were also used in wedding ceremonies, where they served to express mutual trust—they were a sign that a man and a woman wish to share everything they have in the world… As the centuries passed, the form of the rituals changed, but the idea remained the same. Even today, rare coins are meant to bring wealth—whether in money or love— to the new marriage. You’ve surely heard that on her big day, a bride should have something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. This tradition, which stems from an old English rhyme, has a fifth element that is often forgotten—money that the bride is supposed to place in her shoe so that her new family may enjoy the prosperity they long for…

Not only the bride’s shoe, but also wedding rings and other essential items of the wedding attire can be found in the relief of the wedding token, designed by medalist Lucie Kroupová. Naturally, a set of circulation coins would not be complete without actual currency—it contains all valid metal coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK and the year 2026 stamped on them, issued by the Czech National Bank and minted by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou. The six coins have never been in circulation.

The complete set comes in gift packaging, where you can write a heartfelt dedication.
