Product description
Classic circulating coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK are made in quality standard. Their entire surface is matte and resistant to damage, which ensures a long lifetime period of the currency. However, Czech metal coins are not only a means of exchange - people appreciate their artistic work and therefore include them in their numismatic collections. Therefore, the Czech Mint in cooperation with the Czech National Bank is preparing a luxurious set of circulating coins stamped in top quality „proof“.
Proof quality is characterized by a mirror-like surface and a matt relief. This attractive contrast effect is achieved by the special finish of the tools used for coining. At the beginning of the proofing process, the surface of the entire die is polished with special aids and diamond paste. Then the die is covered with a special adhesive tape. The proofers cut the tape carefully on the relief portions that are to remain matte. They work under a microscope and apply this procedure to the finest details. Sand of different coarseness is then applied to the masked die, which makes the exposed relief portions matte. Finally, they remove the tape that retains the selected portions of the relief polished. Proof variant of circulating coins is given extraordinary care even during the coining. This is not an automatic machine coining - each coin is stamped individually and packaged in a protective capsule.
The set includes a commemorative medal of pure silver in addition to the six circulating coins stamped with the year 2019. This mintage was made by the academic sculptor Michal Vitanovský, who dedicated it to the historical lands of the Bohemian Crown. The obverse side bears the heraldic animals of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia and the view of the picturesque landscape, the reverse side presents the Czech flag, the Saint Wenceslas Crown and the current and historical borders of the state.
The set is stored in an elegant wooden etui which also includes a numbered certificate of authenticity made by the State Printing Company.
