Product description
In 2021, we commemorate the 400th anniversary of one of the most famous and darkest events of our history – the execution of 27 Czech lords. Therefore, the Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, prepared a luxurious jubilee set of circulation coins minted in top quality proof.
Common circulation coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK, which you encounter daily, are minted in quality "standard". Their entire surface is matte and resistant to damage, which guarantees a long lifetime period of the currency. However, Czech metal coins are not just a means of exchange - many people appreciate their artistic processing and therefore include them in their numismatic collections. For these cases, a collector's variant of coins in the quality "proof" is created, which is characterized by a mirror-shiny surface and a matte relief. This attractive contrast effect is achieved by a special surface treatment of the tools used for minting. At the beginning of the "proofing" process, the surface of the entire die is polished with special tools and diamond paste. Then the stamping die is covered with a special adhesive tape. The proofreader will carefully cut and remove the tape on the parts of the relief that should remain matte. They work under a microscope and apply this procedure to even the finest details. Sand of various roughness is then applied to the camouflaged stamping die that makes the exposed parts of the relief matte. Finally, the remaining tape is removed, which has retained selected parts of the relief polished. The "proof" variant of circulation coins has special care even during the minting itself. It is not an automatic machine minting - each coin is minted individually and packed in a protective capsule.
The set also includes a silver commemorative medal processed by Mgr. Petr Horák in addition to the six circulation coins with the year 2021. In the relief there is the hangman Jan Mydlář and the Prague Old Town Hall - the main actor and place of the Old Town execution, which took place on June, 21 1621.
The set is supplemented with a numbered certificate of authenticity, produced by the State Printing House of Securities, and stored in an elegant wooden case.
