Czech Lion 2020

The collector´s variant of the investment coin is stored in a special packaging that is numbered. The schedule of issuance of this variant counts 1000 pieces.

The Czech Mint minted the “Czech Lion” coins which are the first purely investment coins in the Czech Republic.
They are issued in a foreign license and available in a number of weights that can not miss one ounce of pure silver.

It was not named after the mythical city of Troy, known from ancient Greek legends, but after
the French city of Troyes [trua]. The seat on the Seine has always been a trade center. Therefore, gold and silver units corresponding to the troy ounce have been exchanged here since the Middle Ages. It did not take long and this standardized weight spread all over the world. For example, the English merchants in Troyes already used it in the 9th century AD. One troy ounce, which can be converted to 31.1034768 grams, is still a worldwide measurement unit in the field of international trade in precious metals.

The Czech Mint
reworked all variants of investment coins in 2020, but maintained the idea. Besides the Czech lion in an untraditionally realistic design, the reverse side of the silver coin presents two more symbols of Czech statehood - the St. Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of a two-tailed beast, and an eagle on shield that is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian birds of prey. The medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS became the author of the relief. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. These attributes are the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented by linden branches.

The set of silver coins stored in a
numbered packaging represents an original and valuable gift, but also a collectible item.
