Product description
Two ounces silver coin with the gold ladybird motif is an artistic and technical masterpiece.
The ladybird, the seven-spotted bug is probably the most famous beetle in the world. It owes this to its graceful appearance - red-coloured shards with three black dots on each side and one dot common to both shards. Ladybirds are not only beautiful, but also useful, as they feed on pests such as aphids, which they eat hundreds of in their lifetime. People have always believed that the seven-pointed sunflower brings good luck - perhaps because seven is a lucky number. It also brings health - those who sit on its hand does not need to fear illness. Because of its bright red colour, it is a apostle of love, and another superstition says that it brings people's wishes to God...
The reverse side of the commemorative coin presents a realistically rendered ladybird and a decorative floral design. The obverse side features two more beetles - this time in flight over an abstract meadow dotted with dozens of lucky four-leaf clovers. The ladybird wings are gilded for contrasting effect. All this is done in high relief. As the coin is issued with a foreign license from the State of Liberia, it still bears the inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA on the obverse side and the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (LRD).
The issue limit of elaborated coin which is the work of Le Grand Mint is only 111 pieces.
