Product description
This sensational silver coin in the form of a cube is issued in the year that the most successful puzzle of all time celebrates its 50th anniversary.
When Hungarian architecture professor Ernő Rubik created a school tool in 1974 to help students better understand the three-dimensional world, he had no idea what he had brought into the world. The mechanical puzzle, made up of twenty-seven colourful cubes, was divided into parts, which were rotated until each side of the whole body contained only one colour. It took the inventor himself months to solve his work, so it is not surprising that when he wanted to start mass production he could not find takers. In the end, however, he did succeed, and five thousand "Magic Cubes" were made to begin with. It didn't take long for a mad frenzy to break out - the puzzle went on sale in both the Eastern and Western Blocs, selling over 500 million units over the next 50 years. But no one called it anything other than "Rubik's Cube". The dizzying sales success shows that this is no mere toy. It is a means of developing logical thinking and patience. Scientists have calculated that the cube has more than 43 trillion variations, so it became a symbol of intelligence.
To resemble a real puzzle, the cube coin has a flip side. Because Power Coin is licensed by a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes - the national emblem, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2024.
The issue limit is only 499 pieces!
