Jan Janský

When saving a patient who had attempted suicide, he successfully performed a blood transfusion that was then - in the early 20th century - forbidden. Since then, he has been trying to find out why the same intervention did not help other people. Then, as part of his research to find the relationship between blood and mental illness, he came to the groundbreaking discovery of the four blood types. Unfortunately, the true significance of his discovery remained hidden. He did not pursue transfusiology, and his discovery was not put into practice until his successors...

In the art competition of the Czech National Bank, the joint design of two medal makers -
