Product description

The two-part mini-series of silver coins from the Czech Mint was inspired by the eternal battle between good and evil. The first piece of the puzzle belongs to the evil forces of darkness.

Good and evil are two opposing principles that are old as humanity itself. On the one hand, there is rational good, which honours life and continuity. On the other hand, there is futile evil, which brings death and destruction. One cannot exist without the other – after all, evil is actually just a lack of good... Moral evil has a clear culprit. In such cases, specific people who envy, lie, steal or murder are responsible for suffering and damage. Natural evil, on the other hand, takes the form of events that are almost impossible to influence, and so we can only blame a higher power. What else can a person do when struck by a natural disaster or an incurable disease? Perhaps this is why people have always attributed the form of various devils and demons to intangible and invisible evil. Some thinkers, however, say that no action is inherently good or evil. It only matters what brings the greatest benefit and happiness to the greatest number of people. Is it good when the sun shines and bad when it rains? Someone who has no roof over their head will be delighted by the sun, but a farmer whose fields need moisture will pray for rain.

The medall maker Petr Patka, DiS. depicts evil personified in the form of a dark woman with a sword and black wingson the richly coloured reverse side of the coin. The warrior woman leaves behind a burning hell full of graves and, accompanied by ravens, sets off to fight against good. The desolate hellish realm can also be found on the obverse of the coin, where it contrasts with the shining towers of the heavenly kingdom. The two birds – a raven and a dove – surrounded by mystical ornaments and symbols also represent opposites. Because coins from the Czech Mint are issued with a foreign licence from the island of Niue, they also bear its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue, 2025.

The issue comes in special magnetic packaging – don't miss this coin dedicated to good, which together with the coin of evil creates a harmonious whole.
