Product description
Another item was added to the series Engangered Nature in July 2014. Czech Mint has issued a Smart coin denominated 1 NZD which depicts the gray wolf, in Latin Canis lupus. In the past, the wolf was the most widespread predator in Europe, but the species is now extinct in much of Western Europe. In Czechia we can meet him very rarely – mostly near the frontier with Slovakia.
The design for the coin was created by academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová. On the reverse the gray wolf is pictured in detail in all its beauty – its silhouette in colour, with inscription VLK OBECNÝ and CANIS LUPUS. The obverse side is dominated by a flower motif together with the attributes of the issuer Niue Island.
The Endangered Nature series issued by Czech Mint is quite popular among collectors – both for its artistic rendering and affordability. Individual coins also convey a message making it a nice and illuminating gift for children.
