Silver coin Legends of Czech Ice hockey- Jiří Šlégr proof
Czech and Czechoslovak Hockey Legends
The collector's series of silver coins of the Czech Mint "Legends of Czechoslovak Hockey" commemorates another "golden boy" from Nagano - Jiří Šlegr.
Strong and resilient back named "Rubber" scored a semi-final goal in Nagano - an uncompromising bomb in the Canadian net. He was impressed by his return to the Czech Republic more than by Olympic victory in 1998: "Only then did we know the reality - what was happening here. Until then, we only perceived everything through the radio and had no concrete idea. And then we saw the crowded airport and Staromak square. One had to realize that it was all the hard work to make the hockey beautiful and that it was quite exceptional. Self-confidence increases after such a victory. Then, you are able to beat anyone in sport. Still, you said it could not be more than that. " Jiří Šlégr was wrong about this. He soon achieved two more extraordinary hockey triumphs. He won the Stanley Cup in 2002 and he became world champion in 2005. These three triumphs secured him a place in an elite club known as the Triple Gold Club.
Medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. placed the period portrait of the back together with his jersey number 71 and an inscription NAGANO 1998 - WORLD MASTER 2005 - THE WINNER OF STANLEY CUP on the reverse side of the coin. The coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the license of the State of Samoa and their obverse side therefore bears the necessary attributes of this foreign issuer - the national emblem, the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019 and the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (WST).
Coins of Jiří Šlegr can be stored in a special collector's etui in the form of a puck that will hold the whole ice hockey series.
