Solar System

The Czech Mint dedicated another silver coin from the Solar System cycle to the planet Uranus.

Uranus
, the namesake of the Greek god of the sky, is twice as far from the Sun as Saturn. Thanks to this distance it was discovered in the 18th century as the first planet since antiquity. Until then, it was mistaken for a star. Uranus receives little light, therefore, it is very cold. The temperature here reaches -214 ° C. While most planets rotate around their axis almost perpendicular to orbit, the seventh planet in the solar system is tilted to the side. Uranus is a gas giant - like other planets of this type, it consists mainly of hydrogen and helium, and it has many rings and moons. Miranda, whose surface is full of deep canyons, is its most interesting circular.

The reverse side of the coin was dedicated by medal makers
Asamat Baltaev, DiS., and Jiří Hanuš, DiS., to depiction of Uranus in vivid colors achieved by using pad printing technology. The embossed relief then shows the Sun surrounded by the orbits of other planets in the solar system. The composition is closed by the inscription URAN. Photographs or computer graphics were not used as a template for coloring - the coin makers created original watercolor paintings. The coin surface of the mintage is characterized by a special treatment - a combination of proofing, sandblasting and laser treatment of the stamping die has achieved a new effect, which we have called "moon dust". The obverse side of the coin is dedicated to the depiction of the entire solar system and presents astronomical symbols of individual planets. In the center of the system there is a portrait of Elizabeth II., which, together with the Queen's name, the year of issue 2021 and the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD), is a necessary attribute of the issuer of the coin. This is the Pacific island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own commemorative coins.

You can save the coin dedicated to Uranus in a
collector's album that is full of interesting facts about the universe and its conquerors.
