Three Musketeers
The first silver coin from the Czech Mint's four-part collector's miniseries The Three Musketeers features the noble Athos and the treacherous Milady de Winter.
Athos is the eldest and most experienced of the royal musketeers of the trio of friends who are inseparable brothers in arms, in the tavern and in the service of the king. He is a nobleman, but he is plagued by the demons of the past and drowns his melancholy in wine. Even his faithful companions Porthos and Aramis are unaware that the cause of this torment is an old love. But when the young d'Artagnan appears on the scene, intent on becoming a musketeer, Athos' mysterious story begins to emerge. A whirlwind of intrigue spins at the French royal court, at the centre of which stands not only the treacherous Cardinal Richelieu, but also the diabolical Milady de Winter - outwardly beautiful and mysterious, inwardly evil, vile and all-powerful spy who used to be Athos's wife...
Medal maker Matěj Funk, DiS., dedicated the reverse side of the coin to a distinctive depiction of a musketeer and a countess surrounded by the English inscription ATHOS AND MILADY DE WINTER. An additional motif is the diamonds around which the whole adventure from the pen of Alexandre Dumas revolves. The obverse side then presents musketeer's cords and the French motto UN POUR TOUS - TOUS POUR UN (one for all, all for one). As the licence to issue commemorative coins of the Czech Mint is granted by the Pacific island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary elements - the national emblem, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2024.
You can store the complete Musketeer collection in a collector's etui which you can also find in the Czech Mint's offer.
