Beijing 2022

The 24th Winter Olympics, which will welcome 2,892 athletes in 15 sports, will be held in February 2022 - due to a coronavirus pandemic just six months after the Summer Olympics. Traditional silver medals from the Czech Mint were created to commemorate the spectacular sporting event hosted by Beijing, China.

The Summer Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008, and fourteen years later, the sporting feast is returning to the Chinese capital - this time in winter form. Beijing will thus become the very first metropolis in history to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Sports fans will see old familiar venues and brand new venues. The ceremonies will once again take place in the majestic Bird's Nest. The water cube, which hosted swimming sports in the summer, will be transformed into an ice cube for the curling tournament. An eye-catching, ribbon-like hall has been built for speed skaters. The big air competitions will be held in the former factory, whose cooling towers will serve as a backdrop for a video show.

On the obverse side of the silver mintage, which is the work of medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek, you will find a depiction of the Bird's Nest - or the Beijing National Stadium. The reverse side is dedicated to the Czech Olympic Committee, which is traditionally a partner of the Czech Mint, and presents the Czech flag with the Czech lion.

The schedule of issuance has only 1000 pieces.
