Product description
The Summer Games will be held in France in 2024. Traditional silver medals of the Czech Mint were created as a souvenir of the spectacular sporting event hosted by Paris.
After London, Paris is only the second metropolis to host the Summer Games for the third time. The sporting feast took place here in 1900 and 1924, therefore returned to the French capital after exactly 100 years. Much has changed since then. The organisers have proved that even an international event of enormous proportions can be organised sensitively and responsibly - in the spirit of 21st century values. Social, economic and environmental sustainability played as much a role in Paris as the performance of the athletes. To keep the Games' carbon footprint as small as possible, France refrained from building new megalomaniac buildings and all facilities were supplied with 100% renewable electricity. Spectators moved between venues on foot or by public transport. The event also set an example on a social level - it was the first time that the Games were gender-balanced. Of course, the sporting competition itself was not forgotten! Athletes from all over the world could win medals in 32 sports and 329 disciplines. Starting with the previous Games in Tokyo, the organisers have the right to propose sports that are popular in each country. Breakdance - or dancing with acrobatic elements - appeared in France for the first time.
On the obverse side of the silver medal, which is the work of the medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek, you will find a depiction of the French national stadium Stade de France, located in the Parisian agglomeration in Saint-Denis. The reverse side is dedicated to the iconic Eiffel Tower, the Czech flag and the Czech lion.
The issue run is only 500 units.
