Product description

The series of silver medals of the Czech Mint gradually represents our statutory cities. Mladá Boleslav became the thirteenth significant seat of the Czech Republic, which has been immortalized in one kilogram of pure silver.

Most of us have the Central Bohemian capital inherently connected with the modern automotive industry. However, Mladá Boleslav is also a place whose history extends over a thousand years to the past. Duke of Bohemia Boleslaus II the Pious found this stronghold in the second half of the 10th century. A settlement to which the next century was not very welcoming was build in the lower castle on the bank of the Jizera river Mladá Boleslav was destroyed in the struggle between the nobility in the 13th century, while the Hussite wars repeatedly ravaged it in the 15th century and the Thirty Years War broke out in the 17th century., However, the city was successful even despite these tribulations. The scholar Mikuláš Klaudyán, among others the author of the first printed map of Bohemia, founded the printing press in 1518 and the city became the center of industry from the 18th century. Slavia bicycle factory, founded in 1895, became the most important company. It soon became a motorcycle factory and then Laurin & Klement automobile factory - today's Škoda Auto, which is the largest company in the Czech Republic.

The obverse side of medals from the cycle the Statutory Cities always consists of two elements, which are architectural dominant features and aerial view of the city center. The depiction of the Mladá Boleslav castle, which was originally a Přemyslid fortified settlement, then a Gothic castle and eventually a Renaissance castle, was made by the talented female medalmaker Irena Hradecká, DiS. Jakub Matouš, DiS is the author of a detailed sight to the city from the bird's eye view. And the two works of art were put together by Petra Brodská, DiS. Reverse side of issues from the kilogram medal cycle is not changed. All statutory cities are marked and their names are being followed on the map of the Czech Republic from MgA. Miroslav Schovanec, DiS workshop.

Just 24 pieces of majestic medals each of which is manually numbered on the edge and placed in a luxurious wooden will be produced.
