Silver slov. coin 10 EUR 2025 Kežmarok Monument Reserve stand
Product description
The Slovak silver euro coin minted in standard quality is dedicated to the Kežmarok Monument Reserve.
The town of Kežmarok, first mentioned in 1251, is one of the oldest in Slovakia. It was formed by the merger of three smaller settlements – a royal border guard settlement, a Slovak fishing village, and a settlement of Saxon colonists. It was granted town privileges In 1269, and it became a free royal town in 1380. Despite protracted wars, especially with neighboring Levoča, Kežmarok flourished. Thanks to a wide variety of crafts, it was one of the richest towns in Spiš, which allowed it to become home to an extensive collection of cultural and historical monuments. Here you will find, for example, the originally Gothic town hall, a castle converted into a Renaissance chateau, and a charming Renaissance bell tower, but above all the Evangelical Articular Church of the Holy Trinity from 1717. This unique wooden sanctuary was built from yew and red spruce without the use of a single piece of metal. Even the Baroque interior was made of wood. The church organ with wooden pipes is particularly valuable. It is no wonder that the historic center of the town has been a municipal heritage reserve since 1950.
Medal maker Karol Ličko dedicated the coin's relief to the town's important landmarks, including secular and religious buildings such as the town hall, bell tower, Basilica of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, castle, and new Evangelical church. The composition is supplemented with the text SLOVENSKO, the state emblem, the year of issue 2025, the nominal value 20 EURO and the inscription PAMIATKOVÁ REZERVÁCIA KEŽMAROK.
The coin was minted by the Kremnica Mint and issued by the National Bank of Slovakia.
