Silver thaler Baby and Christening 2012 with dedication proof
Jáchymov thalers were struck in the 16th century by count Šlik in Jáchymov (in German they were called Joachimsthalergulden). Spoonerism of the word thaler gave rise to the name of dollar. As a result, the thaler became a symbol of many current coins but also of silver.
The gift for the occasion of baby birth and christening thus has a permanent value of this precious metal and, in addition to it, of the art work of designers and the mint’s engravers.
Czech Mint regularly changes motifs on the baby and christening medals.
The obverse side of the silver thaler 2012 depicts a baby lying on his/her belly on a diaper-changing desk, with an outstretched hand and a baby rattle. The legend reads “Tolar k narození dítěte“ (Baby and Christening thaler).
On the reverse side a ribbon is arranged in the shape of heart close to the rim. It borders a space for engraving of names and dates according to the wish of the buyer of the thaler.
