Product description

In 2017, the Czech Mint contributed to the free cycle called the War Year. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the 1942 breakthrough events, four gold coins were traditionally produced, as well as a collector's box of which to store them.

The Pacific Battle of Midway, which was dominated by aircraft carriers; the desert struggle for the Egyptian El Alamein in which the Allies drove the Axis troops to retreat; a mysterious project Manhattan, the goal of which was to create a weapon that ends all the wars for good; and the Battle of Stalingrad, the mother of all the battles that reversed the course of the Second World War. These stories are all stored in the thematic box.

It is made of sheet metal - just like most boxes used during the Second World War. Almost everything was stored in metallic cases before the era of plastic - from first aid kits to machine-gun hubs.

Illustration on the box depicts silhouettes of naval artillery during the Pacific crusade. The gun-charging men were a frequent motif of the US Navy's recruitment and propaganda posters. The war scene is complemented by the year 1942 and the Czech Mint´s mark.
