Old Town Execution
The execution of 27 Czech lords was an unusually cruel retaliation for the uprising of the Protestant Czech states, which was directed against the rule of the Catholic Habsburgs and which gave rise to an apocalypse in the form of the Thirty Years' War.
One of the darkest events in Czech history took place on June 21, 1621 at the Old Town Square, where the hangman Mydlář sent 3 convicted lords, 7 knights and 17 burghers to the other world.
Four gold coins of the Czech Mint commemorate individual aspects of the Old Town Execution on the occasion of its fourth anniversary:
- Hangman Mydlář
- Old Town Square
- Czech Lords
- The Dark Ages
You can store the complete collection in this luxurious collector's box made of dark wood.
Note: The collector's case does not include a certificate of authenticity – it is delivered with each coin separately.
