Product description

The motif of this unusual copper medal from Hobo Coin is the queen bee.

If you look inside a beehive, amongst thousands of worker bees, you will find a bee who holds a privileged position. Because this insect colony resembles a human monarchy, she is known as the queen bee. However, her life is not the fairy-tale story of a monarch who spends her entire life in luxury and idleness. Just like her worker sisters, who gather food, build the hive and care for the larvae, the queen also has her own task -  laying eggs. During periods of peak activity, she can lay several thousand in a single day, and over the course of her entire life, this can amount to millions. The queen also produces pheromones that influence the behaviour and organisation of the colony, but it cannot be said that she is the most powerful one in the hive. In fact, she is dependent on the other bees just as much as they rely on her. The bee monarchy is not based on the absolute power of a single individual, but on the perfect cooperation of the entire swarm…

A coloured commemorative medal, dominated by the queen bee, is shaped like a honeycomb full of honey.

The mintage totals 2,500 pieces.
