Copper Plectrum Pink Floyd

Date of issue October 2026
Product description

A copper commemorative medal in the shape of a guitar plectrum pays tribute to the legendary rock band Pink Floyd.

Although a plectrum is an unassuming object, it is in fact an indispensable link between the musician and their instrument. It is not only an extension of the guitarist’s hand, but also of their soul. With its help, the tremors in the heart are transformed into the vibrations of the strings, and emotions become music. The pick also helped the legendary guitarist David Gilmour to tell stories without words. His unmistakable solos, full of feeling, power and melancholy, helped Pink Floyd to become immortal legends. The emotional power and unique sound of Gilmour’s guitar can be admired in particular on the album The Dark Side of the Moon. A sombre reflection on modern society, focusing on money, greed, war, loneliness, fear and the relentless passage of time, it was released in 1973 and achieved phenomenal success – selling 50 million copies worldwide, making it the second best-selling album in the history of music!

The copper plectrum features an embossed reproduction of the cover of  The Dark Side of the Moon – dominated by an optical prism, which disperses the light passing through it. Each piece is individually polished.

This collector’s item, produced by the British mint The Royal Mint, is also a fully functional accessory for playing the guitar!
