Product description
This gold coin weighing one troy ounce depicting the legendary ruling couple Amenhotep and Nefertiti is both an artistic unique and a collector's rarity.
The civilization of ancient Egypt flourished in the Nile basin for an incredible three thousand years. In that time, countless rulers have succeeded to the throne, and while some have fallen into obscurity, others have earned the immortality they have longed for all their lives. One of the rulers who will forever go down in history was Amenhotep IV. This heretical pharaoh shook the entire empire when he denied all the old deities and established a single god, Aten. The earthly personification of the supernal creator and sustainer of life then became Amenhotep himself, who took the new name Akhenaten... He chose his name and his faith, but he could not choose a wife, for his parents had destined her for him. Yet he could not be happier. His life was linked to the famous Nefertiti, whose eloquent name meant "Beauty Comes". A woman with unusually delicate features and fair skin, she so charmed the ruler that he made her co-ruler of Egypt. The pharaohs had many wives and even more concubines, but it was unusual for any of them to become queen. The ambitious Nefertiti, however, assumed more and more rulership. She was even depicted on the walls of temples in the same size as her husband. If surviving engravings are to be believed, she engaged in activities normally reserved for men - driving off enemy troops and presiding over ceremonies. At the height of the Egyptian empire, Nefertiti was quite possibly the most powerful woman in the world.
The reverse side of the coin presents Amenhotep and Nefertiti in a loving embrace. Both are adorned with badges of power, and the unmistakable symbols of ancient Egypt - the pyramids and hieroglyphics - stand out in the background. The obverse side is then dedicated to the essential attributes of the coin's issuer, the State of Liberia - bearing its national emblem, the nominal value of 500 DOLLARS (LRD) and the year of issue 2025.
The issue limit of T&S coin is only 100 pieces.
