Product description
The cycle of gold coins with a nominal value of CZK 5000 quality standard of the Czech National Bank gradually presents the ten most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. The second of these presents the romantic Bezděz, a castle built in the 13th century served to protect important trade routes as well as the famous monastery and place of pilgrimage. At a time when fortifications lost their significance, the castle went on to become the inspiration for a number of romantic artists. Headed by Karel Hynek Mácha and Bedřich Smetana, the artists have repositioned their masterpieces the Máj and the Tajemství in this genre. The interest in Bezděz did not fade even in the 21st century - because this castle has, as one of the few, preserved in its original unaltered state, still attracts crowds of tourists, who have nick-named it the King of the Castles.
Asamat Baltaev, DiS., has a great experience with modeling the monumental historical architecture - his very first realization was a medal with the motif of the castle Rábí and on the Liberec regional token he has portrayed Trosky and Bezděz. No wonder, that his art design of the commemorative coin has charmed the Czech National Bank for assessing proposals for the Czech currency. The experts appreciated the quality and realistic rendition of Bezděz on the reverse and a humorous incorporation of the heraldic animals into the interior of the castle chapel windows on the obverse of the coin.
The Bezděz, depicted on the gold coin, also features an elegant collector's box, which can be found on offer in the Czech Mint, which holds all ten issues of the new five-year cycle of the CNB.
