Product description

The beauty of Štramberk is shown on the ninth gold coin with a nominal value of 5,000 CZK from the five-year cycle of the Czech National Bank, which is dedicated to the urban conservation areas of the Czech Republic. The mintage stands out for its top-quality proof.

Štramberk is entitled the Moravian Bethlehem and it is no wonder. The town in the Beskydy foothills is incredibly picturesque. Its dominant feature is the castle of the same name, dominated by a gothic tower called Trúba. The wooden gallery of the 40-metre high cylindrical structure offers a view of the surrounding area and the nearby sub-castle, which was promoted to a town by Margrave John Henry of Luxembourg. This Luxemburg, brother of Charles IV, had the town houses surrounding the sloping square surrounded by walls that have been preserved to this day. As the population grew, a large terraced suburb was built on the rocky hillside. The 18th- and 19th-century log cabins on the outskirts of the town now contrast interestingly with the colourful Baroque houses in the centre. The gingerbread aroma of the delicious Štramberk ears is an inseparable part of the atmosphere of the town's conservation area, which was declared in 1969 ...

In the art competition of the Czech National Bank, the design by medal maker Veronika Prokopová, DiS. The expert committee was impressed by the imaginative collage of the most important Štramberk landmarks on the reverse side of the coin - in the foreground you will find the Neo-Renaissance fountain, in the middle the Church of St. John of Nepomuk and the house with a Neo-Baroque gable wall, and the ruins of Štramberk Castle in the background. The obverse side of the coin is dominated by a mural from the interior of Jaroňek's shelter - a tourist hostel at Trúba. Heraldic animals of the Czech Republic complete the composition.

You can store the collection of gold coins from the ten-piece cycle of the Czech National Bank in a wooden collector's case, which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
