Product description

In 2017 it has been 50 years since the robber Rumcajs of Václav Čtvrtek appeared on television for the first time. The Czech Mint dedicates him a gold commemorative coin on the occasion of this jubilee.

A folk tales are full of stories about the honorable bandits, who take from the rich, give to the poor and fight for freedom. While in England there are stories about Robin Hood, in Switzerland about William Tell and in Slovakia about Juraj Janosik, in the Czech Republic small children know the adventures of robber Rumcajs, who ruled the Jičín forest Řáholec. While the honest buyers and wayfarers did not need to be afraid of the good-natured robber, the proud and dissolute nobility had to be more careful. The mayor, prince, princess and their lackey, and even emperor himself - all these persons often had to face Rumcajs. However, thanks to his enormous power, common sense, help of the forest animals and magical creatures, he was always able to destroy their bad intentions.

The reverse side of the coin is dominated by Rumcajs, hooting on someone in the forest undergrowth. Does he hoot on his son Cipísek, who makes mischief, or on a poor aristocrat, who rashly went to Řáholec? Let your imagination run riot! A talented medal maker Irena Hradecká, DiS. has transferred the characteristic illustration of Radek Pilař to the relief. The obverse side of the coin includes the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II., the year of issue 2017 and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) - the attributes of Niue island, which enables the Czech Mint to mint its own commemorative coins.

Rumcajs coin is placed into a fabulous album, which can hold two more gold mintages, dedicated to other fairy characters Manka and Cipisek.
