Gold ducat Baby and Christening 2010 proof
With this ducat, Czech Mint continues in the old tradition of St. Wenceslas’ ducats that were given in the past to children in cradles by grandparents and godfathers. The motifs on christening ducats change every three years, the current motifs depict Madonna and heraldic animals.
The obverse side of the ducat features Madonna with a child by Peter Brandl dating back to the Baroque period, year 1710.
The reverse side depicts three stylized heraldic animals – in the lower part they are complemented by stars arranged in a circle, serving as a decoration and a symbol of the united Europe.
