Gold ducat Baby and Christening 2011 personified proof
Gold baby and christening ducat tops the series of medals marking the most significant moments in life.
With this ducat, Czech Mint continues in the old tradition of St. Wenceslas’ ducats that were given in the past to babies in cradles by grandparents and godfathers. Even in poor families, a baby received gold coins – to prevent him or her from poverty The motifs on christening ducats are regularly changed.
On the obverse side of the 2011 issue, its author, academic sculptor, Michal Vitanovský used the motif of a newborn baby. The baby is lying on his/her back stretching out the arms as a symbol of openness and trust with which the baby comes to the world. The well-structured composition in a round format is complemented with a diagonally placed pillow outlined by border beads.
On the reverse side the ducat can be personalized, there is room for placement of personal data. A ribbon shaped in the form of a heart around the coin’s field delimits a place where names or dates can be engraved by laser according to the wish of the customer.
