The admired figure of John Fitzgerald Kennedy appears on the tenth gold ducat of the Czech Mint from the series entitled Cult of Personality.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born into an influential American family. His parents were ambitious and had big plans for their children. They had the highest hopes for their firstborn son, and, the second-born John stood in his shadow since an early age. As the thoughtful young man grew up, he considered becoming a teacher or a writer, but his plans were changed by World War II, in which his older brother died. John himself, despite failing health, took part in the fighting and proved himself an unadulterated war hero in the Pacific. After the end of the war, he turned to politics, becoming a congressman and later a senator for the Democratic Party. He did not forget his love of literature, however, and won the Pulitzer Prize for his book Profile in Courage. His political star rose until 1961, when he became the 35th President of the United States - the youngest elected head of state in the country's history. "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country," he said during his inauguration. Because he truly lived up to this lofty idea, he ranks among the presidents who have most significantly influenced the face of the United States. His economic policies launched the longest-lasting economic boom since the Second World War. He also took strong action on equal rights. While he sat in the White House, the Bay of Pigs invasion took place, the Berlin Wall was built, the Caribbean crisis was averted, the first clashes of the Vietnam War took place and the race to conquer the moon began. He spoke out against nuclear proliferation and tried to slow the arms race. In private, however, "JFK" was no saint. He cheated on his wife Jackie constantly, and his many mistresses included famous beauties Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe. In 1963, he began to prepare to defend the presidency, but his life was tragically ended by an assassination that shocked the American public. The obverse side of the ducat, which is the work of academic sculptor Jiří Dostál, presents a characteristic portrait of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, supplemented with his name and life dates. "The reverse side is horizontally crossed by a strip of the inscription FREEDOM IS INHERENT... It is a strong beginning of Kennedy's quote. The composition is dominated vertically by the statue of Liberty. The US flag is freely used in the background," says the author of the ducat.
