Smart coin commemorating the beginnings of the Přemyslid dynasty

Bořivoj I was the first Czech duke and Christian ruler – member of the Přemyslid dynasty – who largely contributed to the spread of Christianity in the Czech lands in the 9th century. He and his wife Ludmila were baptised by archbishop Methodius and built first churches on the territory of central Bohemia.
The obverse side features the coin essentials: the denomination 100 dollars, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth, the name of the country and the year of issue. The main motif on the obverse is the picture from the Velislav Chronicle showing the baptism of Bořivoj I by archbishop Methodius. The reverse side depicts Bořivoj I with a flag based on the wall paintings which decorate the rotunda in Znojmo. The duke’s figure is complemented with the Přemyslid flaming eagle because Bořivoj I is the first Czech ruler documented in written sources who stood at the beginnings of the Přemyslid dynasty.
