Product description

Czech Mint commemorates the great jeweller Gustav Fabergé and his legacy in a very original way – by a gold one-ounce coin denominated NZD 50 in proof quality. Gustav Fabergé was born in Pärn, Livonia (today Estonia) to a family of artists 200 years ago (1814). He apprenticed at Ferdinand Spiegel in Petersburg and worked for Wilhelm Keibel. After he qualified as a master he opened a Fabergé workshop in Petersburg. In 1842 he married the daughter of a Danish painter Charlotte Jungstedt with whom he had five children. In 1860 they moved to the town of Dresden and the firm in Russia was headed by his partner Hiskias Pendin and his oldest son Peter Carl Fabergé. The latter became famous in particular thanks to gold Easter eggs which he manufactured on a special order for the imperial family. About 50 pieces gold eggs were produced but fewer were preserved. The skilful craftsmanship, the materials used and the original opening hiding a surprise inside became a synonym for luxury and opulence.

A jewel in the shape of an Easter egg is one of things featured on the obverse of the gold coin. It was skilfully designed by young talented medal maker Asamat Baltaev. In the centre he placed the effigy of the British Queen Elizabeth II, there is also her name, the name of the issuer Niue Island and denomination of the coin 50 NZD. On the reverse we can see the portrait of Gustav Fabergé based on the painting of A. I. Perevyško. The splendid gold coin in an elegant leather case is numbered and the edition is limited to 200 pieces. Reserve a place for this fabulous piece of art in your collections; its purchase means a wise investment of your money. The current favourable prices of precious metals invite to invest in numismatic jewels now!
