Product description

Czech lookout towers are imposing structures, but they would loose a great deal of their charm and significance if they were not built in beautiful landscapes with breathtaking views. Our land was truly endowed with a countless number of these, and whoever has been to the top of one of our lookout towers can certainly tell you that seeing pristine nature from a bird’s-eye perspective magnifies its beauty. The new issue from the popular Lookout Towers series of the Czech Mint exalts another unique piece of architecture – the Žalý Lookout Tower.

The lookout tower was built on the top of Přední Žalý at an altitude of 1,019 m above sea level along with the first inn there at the order of Jan Harrach. The inn was finished in 1890, the tower two years later, and its original form has been preserved to this day. The structure offers magnificent views of the landscape, on clear days you can see Hradec Králové, Turnov and even Prague, but it also gives unique views of the major features of the Krkonoše Mountains – Sněžka, Kotel, Luční, Černa Hora, mohylu Hanče, Vrbaty na Zlatém návrší and Medvědín. In the other direction, the panorama features silhouettes of Ještěd, Bezděz, Ralsko, Trosky, Kozákov, Tábor and Zvičina.

The majestic solitary structure built in a picturesque natural setting represents an interesting part of national history and when immortalized in precious metals thanks to the masterful work of talented medal maker MgA. Jan Hásek will be the pride of many numismatic collections. The obverse of the medal is decorated with a faithful reproduction of the tower, while the reverse features a detailed view of the surrounding beauty. The Žalý Lookout Tower of pure gold weighing one quarter ounce will also enrich your portfolio with interesting investment potential. Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity - this is a strictly limited issue of 500 pieces!
