Gold wedding ducat 2011 personified proof

Giving presents to newlyweds is one of many wedding customs and rituals. What to buy as a wedding gift is often very difficult for relatives and friends invited to the wedding. The old custom, giving the engaged couple something practical for the household, is becoming old-fashioned, not to mention the fact that the couple often ends up with something they do not want. And here, Czech Mint comes up with a perfect solution.

The gold wedding ducat is an ideal gift with lasting value that will always be appreciated.

On the obverse side of the wedding ducat its author, the academic painter Majka Wichnerová, placed the motif of a wedding ring fitted on a finger and a handshake as a symbol of two lives joining together. Both sides of the ducat are decorated by a myrtle sprout that is used at every wedding.

On the reverse side of the medal there is a blank field in the form of a scroll where various data of personal choice can be engraved.

The rim of the ducat is decorated with border beads, also called astragal, as a favourite adornment created in the ancient world and used in Bohemia from the Renaissance period.
