Product description
Another gold coin from cycle dedicated to Mickey Mouse's most famous roles was inspired by a short animated film Mickey's Christmas Carol. This is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic story of 1843.
The characters from the Victorian short story are played by popular Disney characters. The role of greedy Ebenezer Scrooge, who changed his ways when he met Christmas ghosts, could not be played by anyone other than uncle Scrooge. It was originally Dickens' character who gave the name to the Duck. The Mickey Mouse itself portrays the typist Bob Cratchita, who is sponged by Scrooge even during the Christmas when he wants to be with his family. Among other characters there are also the Donald Duck, the Goofy Dog or Jiminy Cricket. The film of 1983 was the first Mickey's performance in cinemas over a long 30 years, and it was a clear success. Criticism was excited, and Christmas Carol was nominated for the Oscar.
The coin made by the New Zealand Mint team comes out in the official Disney license. On the reverse side there is a cheerful portrait of Mickey Mouse with a cylinder and a scarf, which was thanks to the coloring technology rendered in vivid colors. On the obverse side of the coin there is a portrait and the name of the Emperor Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS 50 CENTS (NZD) together with the year of the issue 2017, which means the attributes of the coin issuer, the island of Niue.
Minicoins weighing one-half of a gram are set in a collector's card with a colourful illustration taken from the opening shot of the film.
