We were visited by Jan Saudek
It's hard to believe that Jan Saudek celebrated his 90th birthday. As we saw when he visited us yesterday, he still rocks…
He has become famous around the world for his inimitable images on the border between painting and photography, which are a controversial and provocative celebration of humanity. He primarily depicted women – gentle and shy, shameless and perverted. He became both an admired and reviled master of the classical photographic craft, an optimistic and melancholic pioneer of staged photography.
Recently, the profitability of investing in precious metals has been frequently discussed. In the case of investment coins, the situation is quite clear – their value is based almost exclusively on the current price of the metal on the market. On the other hand, there are commemorative pieces whose price is influenced by the exchange rate of precious metals but mainly depends on the attractiveness of the chosen topic, the size of the mintage and the overall collector interest. The more exceptional the subject and the more limited the mintage, the higher the demand may be and with it the chance of appreciation over time.
Jan Saudek has already confirmed his exceptionality several times:
- His silver commemorative medal "Marie No. 1" sold for CZK 2,490 in 2021 and was auctioned for CZK 18,400 in 2025.
- His gold commemorative medal "Life" sold for CZK 149,000 in 2022 and was auctioned for CZK 219,000 in 2024.
We are sure that the current birthday medals of the legendary photographer will be similarly successful!

Jan Saudek was signing everything possible, but most of all of course his commemorative medal.
